Effective September 1, 2015, Bayer MaterialScience has become an independent company from the Bayer group and has started operations with a new corporate vision under the new name of Covestro. Whereas we have a company history of over 150 years - of which more than 50 in Japan - we are deternimed to make a company that will serve society for another 150 years to come.
Our company has contributed to meet the needs of our customers and challenges that the world has been facing. We will continue to do so as a global chemical company in a speedy and efficient manner under our new vision: to make the world a brighter place. Brighter does not only mean "bright" in terms of light. It also means "smart" as way to find futher solutions to the challenges that humanity is facing: energy- and environmental issues, ageing society, urbanization etc.
In Japan, Covestro is well equipped to meet its vision. Our three legal entities Covestro Japan Ltd., Sumika Covestro Urethane Co., Ltd. and DIC Covestro Ltd. offer a range of solutions to our customers through our PCS, PUR and CAS products. We have production facilities in Niihama and Sakai with excellent safe and stable operations, our Innovation Center in Amagasaki plus our offices in Tokyo, including the Covestro Japan Ltd. headquarters that serves to build a strong network with our stakeholders. Our workforce has been part of our history and is a most critical asset to our company. While utilizing this strong base in Japan on top of the global Covestro network, we aim to serve our customers' business in Japan and beyond.
Along our values being Curious, Courageous and Colorful, Covestro is looking forward to continue to find new solutions with our local business partners, addressing issues that Japan society is facing.
