Bayer Material Flying Sky High in the Airship

Environment-friendly waterborne coatings / High tech plastic “Makrolon” contributes to lightweight

This year, Bayer materials are embarking on a long journey. To celebrate the 150 years of Bayer, a company airship is acting as a heavenly ambassador and heading all over the world such as Australia, South Africa, Italy, and France. On October 9th, the airship flew over Mt. Fuji, which will soon be registered as a world heritage. Over 40 meters long, the airship will be sporting a huge Bayer Cross and the mission statement “Science For A Better Life” on its world tour.

Bayer MaterialScience’s high-tech materials are on board. Environment-friendly two-component polyurethane system formulated with Bayer coating raw materials “Bayhydrol”, “Bayhydur” and “Desmodur”  is applied as coating for propeller protector of aviation steel and aluminum. Front screen of the gondola is made from polycarbonate sheet “Makrolon”.
