Sumika Covestro Urethane’s Niihama Plant achieved a 20-year no recordable incident record

 The Niihama Plant of Sumika Covestro Urethane Co., Ltd. achieved a 20-year no recordable incident record on June 14, 2016. This is thanks to the synergistic effect of the strong safety awareness of each and every employee, and Covestro’s unique management systems for health, safety, the environment and quality. The company held a commemorative ceremony at Niihama Plant on the same day that it achieved the excellent safety record, where it celebrated this feat and also renewed its determination to continue the record.

Niihama Plant plays a part in the polyurethane industry in the automotive, construction and household appliance areas in Japan through the stable supply of polyurethane raw materials. The MDI and polyols produced at the plant are used widely in our everyday lives, including the insulation materials in buildings and refrigerators that contribute to energy saving, and the polyurethane composite materials that make cars and transport equipment lighter.
